Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) affects nearly one in five people in the United States, yet little is known about its causes or cures. IBS symptoms include gas, bloating, abdominal pain and/or cramping, diarrhea and constipation, fatigue, and mucus in the stool. Although few “serious” complications cause IBS patients to require surgery or lead to other serious diseases, the debilitating symptoms can drastically affect both lifestyle and emotional health of the patient.
The cause of IBS is not limited to one particular factor. Common contributors to IBS are stress and food allergies. Some doctors think that hormones play a key role in IBS because women are far more likely to develop IBS than men. However, none of these factors have been proven or disproven.
In BodyTalk, each person’s individuality is honored and acknowledged. No person is identical to another person in their body chemistry, in their personality, and in their ability to handle a particular situation. Therefore, IBS is treated individually and uniquely with each particular client.
